I watched the video. I'm really shaken.
I'm sure it is shown in policy academy of what happens when an officer neglects to use force in time. This officer could have gotten himself killed if the surrounding people have behaved any differently.

He was referring to gang members. I would expect that he would feel there is probably a sliding scale...but this girl is in trouble. She is not being served by her parents or her guardian, or the local NAACP. All of them are sending her the message that she is the victim, so it will empower her.

And I have seen the state facilities when I worked in the local juvenile dependency unit (dependency unit=discontinuing parental rights and placing kids in facilities).

Violent children can be 'regained' ....... but it takes a lot of routine, therapy and new coping skills.....(ie behavior modification).

Perhaps you missed my earlier post wherein I mentioned her "guardian." She has already been removed from a home, and placed with a family member. The "guardian" is outraged at the police. ...gee, wonder where the girl learned her sense of entitlement...

As far as being a minor, she is 17 years of age. In our state, the juvenile courts can hold a declination hearing, and she can be charged as an adult. I doubt they will because of the media, but I hope they do.
The other thing that has totally infuriated the area is that local "black leaders" have been all over the media trying to turn this into a race issue. ...insert eye roll...

Do you understand the term POLICE! Let me start at the very beginning. We, as a society, have authorized a certain agency (POLICE) to be the sole keepers of the use of force, including deadly force.
You seem to be incapable of understanding that distinction, and consistently and incorrectly want to make this a generic hitting-it-always-bad issue.

Here is an interview with an expert who usually testifies AGAINST officer use of force. He said that the officer was justified, but that he erred by not getting her to the ground and cuffing her sooner (probably because he knew he was being video taped).
